A Study of Visual Imparement in Primary School Children
À̾ç¼÷/Lee, Yang Sook
Abstract
Because simple myopia developed around 10 years old age and slowly progressed, we surveyed and analysed the data from rural and urban primary school children about visual acuity, weight, height and other socioenvironmental facters including reading distance, duration of near work, duration of watching T.V., distance of viewing TN., reading posture, type of illumination, level of T.V. set, to investigate the cause of visual imparement of primary school children.
1) The prevalence of visual imparements (below 0.9) was 30.67%.
2) The visual acuity of boys was better than girls.
3) The visual acuity of rural children was better than urban children.
4) Increasing the school grade, decreasing the visual acuity.
5) Reading distance and distance of viewing TV closely corelated to visual acuity.
6) The height seems to influence decreasing visual acuity.
